Admissions (Spring 2011)
How to Apply
Your complete application should include the following items:
- The Application Form
- A scanned copy of your passport (information page)
- A copy of your transcripts
- Two letters of recommendation from academic referees (please see the application form for
further instructions) - For non-English speakers, a TOEFL score of at least 600 is required. A scanned copy of your TOEFL credentials should be sent along with your application.
NOTE: Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. The last date to apply is November 1, 2010.
Fees & Tuition (Spring 2011 Only)
The program costs for the semester include tuition (Arabic courses plus 3 seminars), housing, visas, breakfasts 5 days per week, internet, cultural activities, etc.
Shared Housing (Standard): $5,789 USD
Single Housing: $6,171 USD
Single Housing with Private Bathroom: $6,426 USD
Course Credits
- Seminars: Each seminar offers 4 course credits or the equivalent of 50 contact hours.
- Arabic instruction: Over the course of the semester, students will have 144 hours of Arabic instruction. The YCMES counts this total as approximately 8 course credits
Refund Policy & Housing
Class avaiability is based on minimum enrollment (5 students). If for any reason PCMES classes are canceled, all tuition paid for PCMES classes will be refunded in full.
The housing deposit and any tuition paid, minus the $200/ €200 program deposit, will be returned to any student terminating their program prior to arriving in Yemen, UNLESS tickets and visa have been purchased. Tickets and visa are non-refundable. If a student chooses to terminate their program after arriving in Yemen, two weeks written notice is required. The terminating student will receive a 50% refund on the tuition, housing and meals remaining after the two-week notice period. Any additional airfare resulting from the early termination will be the responsibility of the student.
Housing is included in the tuition price and students are entitled to housing one day prior to and one day after the conclusion of study. Additional periods of stay may be arranged at a cost of $15/€10 per night subject to availability.
A $50/€50 housing damage and a $50/€50 key deposit are due prior to arrival in Yemen ($100/€100 total). The deposit will be returned to the student upon check-out according to the YCMES Housing Guidelines.
