Director of Center for Academic
English Learning
The Yemen College
of Middle Eastern Studies is looking for an experienced
candidate in administration and teaching English as a Foreign Language to open and
head a new center in the Yemen College of Middle Eastern
Studies. The center teaches academic English to fluent,
non-native speakers of English, in preparation for university
entrance and/or work (i.e. journalism, etc). Courses will
be designed to teach students how to write research papers,
proper academic writing and reading comprehension, as well as
strengthening high academic English vocabulary to Yemeni
speakers of English. Contract is negotiable depending on
experience in related field and the Middle East. The
center is part of a long-term goal of the college, and is aiming
to fill this position in 2009-2010. Please

Finance Officer
The Yemen College of Middle Eastern
Studies is looking for an experienced candidate to lead the
Finance Office of the college. Applicants should have at
least a BA in a related field and experience working for
university administration, preferably in accounting or finances.
Contract is negotiable depending on experience, and will require
at least 1-2 years commitment. Knowledge of Arabic is
preferred, and applicants should be willing to relocate to
Sana'a, Yemen. As finance officer, training and managing a
Yemeni staff will be required. Local and International

Experienced English
Language Teachers
The
Yemen-America
Language Institute, in cooperation with the Yemen College of
Middle Eastern Studies, is seeking qualified applicants for
teaching English as a foreign language to Yemeni students.
Applicants should possess appropriate English teaching
qualifications and send their resume/CV and cover letter to

Work schedule is four hours a day of teaching; compensation will
include: monthly salary, housing provided by the YCMES, daily
Arabic lessons, work visa, opportunities to use YCMES' cultural
activities and trips, and other administrative services.
International relocation/travel is not covered. Applicants will be considered on a rolling basis.
*Applicants who do not have certification for teaching English
as a Foreign Language and/or previous English teaching will not
be offered a contract prior to arrival in Yemen. These
applicants must successfully complete an interview and
demonstration lessons to students at YALI.

Executive Secretary Internship
The Yemen College of Middle Eastern
Studies is looking for an executive secretary for the president
the to join the staff. Applicants should have experience
in general clerical duties, multi-tasking skills, patience,
ability to work well with others in a sometimes stressful
environment, and flexibility. Your primary role will be
assisting the president in organization, scheduling, and other
daily tasks. Fluency in English is required; a
college graduate and a workable knowledge of Arabic are desired.
Students wishing to further their Arabic skills and gain work
experience in a developing, Middle Eastern country are
encouraged to apply. Compensation includes private Arabic
courses at the college, housing, half-board, and visas provided
on all contracts; monthly stipend is commensurate with experience,
qualifications, and length of contract.

Part-time Library Interns
The Yemen College of Middle Eastern
Studies is looking for a part-time intern to
assist in cataloguing the library. Applicants must
have some library knowledge (most specifically in cataloguing
with familiarity to Dewy Decimal and Library of Congress), English fluency, and some Arabic language skills. Working hours
are just two hours a day and compensation will be in the form of
tuition discounts at the YCMES/YLC language program.
