How to Apply
For students who wish to study Arabic at the YCMES, the application process is as follows:
- First download the appropriate application form (see side box).
- Fill out the section for the Program in Arabic Language (PAL).
- Once completed, send a scanned copy of the application and your passport to the PAL Program Officer at pal@ycmes.org.
- Once your application has been received by our offices, you will receive a confirmation e-mail.
- A $500 or €500 deposit is required in order to reserve your place in the program.
- Finally, full payment of tuition must be received no later than 1 month prior to your arrival in Yemen. If not, a $200 or €120 late fee will be applied. Please review the Program Fees (below) and send payments accordingly.
Program Fees
The pricing packages below include tuition for Arabic language courses, housing, 1 meal per day (breakfast) 5 days per week, cultural activities, library, wireless internet, 24/7 guards, and other various services. Standard Arabic instruction includes 4 hours of group instruction or 2 hours of private instruction per day. Special courses of study can be arranged upon request (e.g., if you would like private instruction 4 hrs a day). Finally, the YCMES can arrange your flight from the US or Europe for an additional fee.
Eligibility for student prices is dependant on proof of current status as a student. Proof can be in the form of a current student ID card, transcript, or other documentation indicating that you are a student, recent graduate, or planning to enroll.

**Special Registration Discount: For prospective students who register and pay their $500 deposit between August 1st and November 1st, 2010, a special discount will apply for most packages. Discounted prices are listed with an asterix (*). YCMES alumni receive an additional 5% deduction off tuition and housing fees.

Housing Policy
Housing is included in the tuition price and students are entitled to housing one day prior to and one day after the conclusion of study. Additional periods of stay may be arranged at a cost of $15/€10 per night subject to availability.
Single rooms are subject to limited availability.
A $50/€50 housing damage and a $50/€50 key deposit are due prior to arrival in Yemen ($100/€100 total). The deposit will be returned to the student upon check-out according to the YCMES Housing Guidelines
Refund Policy
The $500 or €500 deposit and any tuition paid, minus a non-refundable $200/ €200 administrative fee, will be returned to any student terminating his/her program prior to arriving in Yemen, UNLESS tickets and visa have been purchased. Tickets and visa are non-refundable. If a student chooses to terminate his/her program after arriving in Yemen, two weeks written notice is required. The terminating student will receive a 50% refund on the tuition, housing and meals remaining after the two-week notice period. Any additional airfare resulting from the early termination will be the responsibility of the student.
**Sana'a Residents: If you are an expatriate resident of Sana'a (not on a tourist visa) and would like to study Arabic with us, please contact us directly at pal@ycmes.org or give us a call. We would be happy to accomodate your work schedule; prices will vary depending on frequency of classes. Students and employees of NGO's receive a reduced rate.
