Research at YCMES

The Yemen College of Middle Eastern Studies, with accreditation from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, is able to host scholars to conduct research in the Republic of Yemen. The YCMES facilitates and assists in travel (international and in-country), appointments with local organizations, ministries, and officials, lodging, and other logistical support. The YCMES also obtains the necessary permits, both travel and research, and helps as needed with the academic aspects of the research process.

Applicants should be prepared to provide sufficient evidence of their academic affiliation, an outline to the nature of their project, and the location of their research. At the end of the research project, applicants must submit a report on their findings to the YCMES.

YCMES Research Partnership with the Sheba Center for Strategic Studies

The YCMES and the SCSS have signed a cooperative agreement establishing a professional and academic institutional partnership. This agreement intends to facilitate the placement of researchers within Yemen and encourage appropriately qualified researchers to engage with the research program at SCSS while taking advantage of the logistical support of the YCMES. In addition, the YCMES and SCSS are in agreement to improve the level of critical academic research available in Yemen through cooperation and attention to shared academic and scientific objectives. The SCSS is a non-profit think-tank with the mission of providing decision makers in political and civil societies with rational policy alternatives through its research, data, reports, analyses, and scenarios. The Center focuses its studies on political science, economics, security, and the humanities. YCMES researchers will have access to SCSS resources, opportunities, and other academic and logistical support.

More information about the SCSS can be found on the web at www.shebacss.com.
